"Be aggressive on contested auctions. . The objective of these battles is threefold:
take the contract and go plus; or
be minus less than the opponents would have otherwise scored; or
jack up the opponents to another level and go plus." -- Burt Hall
Course: World-famous bridge teacher Audrey Grant's "Bridge Basics 2: Competitive Bidding." Competitive Bidding covers the information needed when both partnerships are bidding during the auction. While we still want to get to our best contract, we also try to make it as difficult as possible for the opponents to reach their best spot. We need a more aggressive style of bidding: to bid more with less!
The Competitive Bidding course introduces innovative methods of hand valuation and bids that experts use in competitive bidding situations. Pre-emptive bidding is very popular today in bridge. We'll be covering the latest ideas to sharpen your competitive edge!
We’ll be using up to thirty-two carefully prepared deals to learn and practice the information covered. They put the bidding into meaningful context and advance our play of the hand and defensive skills. I’ll be following the same lesson plan as if Audrey, herself, was teaching the class.
Cost: $60 per person and $11.95 for the textbook. Total cost: $71.95.
